On the 16th of May 2017 members of the Peter Johnstone Memorial Group were joined by Celtic captain, Scott Brown, Lisbon Lion, Jim Craig, members of Peter’s family, representatives of Celtic FC and ex-servicemen at the Glencraig memorial to the Celtic great to commemorate the centenary of Peter’s death.
Amongst the speakers at the event was Ian McCallum who gave the crowd an insight into the Battle of Arras and Peter’s death. Jim Craig who spoke of Peter’s for his footballing abilities and the courage he showed on the battlefield.
Tony Hamilton, Celtic Foundation spoke on behalf of the Foundation and Paul McQuade spoke on behalf of the Celtic Graves Society and this followed by the laying of wreaths, see photos.
Former members of Peter’s regiment played the Last Post and Reveille and the regimental tune Cabarfeidh was played by a lone piper.
